In 2018, the Patient Participation Group (PPG) discussed issues around communication, not only between the Practice and its patients, but also as a group how we communicate with other patients. This latter point was identified in a patient survey conducted in late 2015.
It was agreed to establish a project group to examine the processes that are currently in place. The project covered a large range of issues from electronic communications through to leaflets that are available in the surgeries.
Our remit was to identify and recommend to the Practice Partners any affordable and sustainable means of reducing this wastage within their local responsibilities. Were there any initiatives already planned or in progress to tackle this in the West Leicestershire Clinical Commissioning Group that we could support and assist with? Are our patients on regular medicines personally managing the reordering process satisfactorily?

THE Project was developed out of a realization by some group members that older or less mobile patients may have more difficulty than others, accessing their GP. The group looked at:
1. What do we call our project and what should our end product be?
2. Transport to the surgery
3. Making appointments
4. Developing and accessible surgery
5. Systems and training
6. Other issues
