Repeat prescriptions are available by producing the green slip issued by your doctor. Ask at your next appointment. Your prescription will be ready in two working days; if you enclose a stamped, self-addressed envelope we can post it to you. Repeat prescriptions can also be ordered via our website www.charnwoodcommunitymedicalgroup.co.uk. Please ask at reception for a registration form to use the service (ID will be required to activate this service). Your usual pharmacy can also obtain repeat prescriptions for you.
Please note that it may take a few weeks for us to hear back from a hospital about your medication changes. Please check with reception that we have received this information before booking an appointment to discuss any changes that have been made.
We would be grateful if patients ordering gluten free foods on their repeat prescriptions could also complete the form below when ordering their repeat prescriptions. What is it?
We are delighted to be able to offer our patients the Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) service.
The Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) is an NHS service. It gives you the chance to change how your GP sends your prescription to the place you choose to get your medicines or appliances from.
What does this mean for you?
If you collect your repeat prescriptions from your GP you will not have to visit your GP practice to pick up your paper prescription. Instead, your GP will send it electronically to the place you choose, saving you time.
You will have more choice about where to get your medicines from because they can be
collected from a pharmacy near to where you live, work or shop.
You may not have to wait as long at the pharmacy as there will be time for your repeat prescriptions to be ready before you arrive.

How can you use EPS?
You need to choose a place for your GP practice to electronically send your prescription to.
This is called nomination. You can choose:
Ask any pharmacy or dispensing appliance contractor that offers EPS or your GP practice to add your nomination for you. You don't need a computer to do this.
Can I change my nomination or cancel it and get a paper prescription?
Yes you can. If you don't want your prescription to be sent electronically tell your GP. If you want to change or cancel your nomination speak to any pharmacist or dispensing appliance contractor that offers EPS, or your GP practice. Tell them before your next prescription is due or your prescription may be sent to the wrong place.
Is EPS reliable, secure and confidential?
Yes. Your electronic prescription will be seen by the same people in GP practices, pharmacies and NHS prescription payment and fraud agencies that see your paper prescription now. Sometimes dispensers may see that you have nominated another dispenser. For example, if you forget who you have nominated and ask them to check or, if you have nominated more than one dispenser. Dispensers will also see all the items on your reorder slip if you are on repeat prescriptions.

Most tests (blood tests, ECG, x-rays, smears) are done either in the surgery or at Loughborough Community Hospital.
**The results of different tests take varying lengths of time to come back:
Most blood tests - 2 working days
Hormone tests (eg thyroid) - 10 to 14 days
X-rays - 1 week to 10 days
Urine/faecal sample - 7 working days (please bring samples to the surgery before 12 noon)
Cervical smears - 6 weeks
Results are available by phoning the surgery, selecting your surgery and selecting option 2 after 10.00am (to allow time for the results to be delivered and to ease congestion on the telephone lines in the morning when ill people may be trying to get through). To maintain confidentiality, results will only be given to the patient concerned (unless written consent to disclose information to a third party has been given), or, if under 16 years, to a parent or guardian where appropriate.
